What the achievement asks
Collect all seven paint colours for the X-995 Mechanocat. Five points, account-wide. Finishing it awards an eighth colour, Battletorn Blue, which is the actual reward.

The achievement is named for eight colours because the seventh one you find hands you the last.
Where they come from
Each vial is a drop, scattered across the island's activities rather than sold anywhere. Two of them have known sources worth going out of your way for:
- Paint Vial: Big-ol Bronze drops from Rumblerocks, in the cave entered from the sea side.
- Paint Vial: Overload Orange drops from Fungarian Furor, who only spawns while Aid From Nordrassil is the day's visitor quest.
The rest come from the island at large: rares, chests, drill rigs and the daily work.
You need the mechanocat itself before any of this is useful, and the paints are cosmetic rather than criteria for the mount. The achievement counts the vials, not whether you have applied them.
It finishes behind the rest
Since the colours are drops from the same activities everything else in Mechagon uses, this is not an achievement to chase on its own. Anyone working through Rest In Pistons and its thirty-six rares will pass most of the sources without planning to.
The two named above are the exceptions worth a deliberate trip, because both are gated: one is in a cave, the other on a rotating quest.
