Excavation Projects

Contribute to each of the following excavations on the Siren Isle Command Map.

  • The Drowned Lair
  • The Drain
  • Shuddering Hollow

Contribute to the three Siren Isle excavations. The hard part is being allowed to.

What the achievement asks

Contribute to each of the three excavations on the Siren Isle. Five points, account-wide.

It is one contribution each

Go to the Command Map at 69.48 43.44 in the middle of the isle. Each excavation asks for Flame-Blessed Iron, and putting in five is enough. One contribution to each of the three finishes the achievement.

Excavation
The Drowned Lair
The Drain
Shuddering Hollow

There is no fighting and no travel beyond reaching the map.

The real problem is being allowed to contribute

An excavation you cannot contribute to is the normal experience here, and it has two different causes.

It is already full. Once a project reaches 100%, nobody can add to it, and popular ones fill quickly. The Drain in particular is reported as being finished by other players before anyone gets a look in.

The interface is stale. If a project shows as available but is greyed out as though it were locked, close the map and open it again. That clears it for most people.

What to do about it

Wait at the map rather than flying off. Projects open on a cycle, and players report roughly ten minutes between one becoming available and the next. Standing there through two cycles usually gets all three.

If one particular excavation refuses to open across several visits, change shard. Joining and leaving groups on the isle moves you between shards, and players who could never contribute to The Drowned Lair found one within about ten minutes of hopping.

Where it fits

One of the pieces of You Xal Not Pass, which rewards the Shadow of Doubt mount and is part of Worldsoul-Searching, the War Within meta. The excavations also drop citrines for A Choir of Citrines, so contribute even after this is finished.
