What the achievement asks
Ride Krag'wa the Huge and finish the Nazmir world quest Revenge of Krag'wa in forty-five seconds, without being in a group. A hundred and fifty kills.
The frog gives you two abilities: a leap that lands on a pack and flattens it, on a five to six second cooldown, and a tongue lash, a fast frontal swipe you can spam between leaps. The packs hold fifteen to twenty blood trolls each, so the whole thing comes down to seven to ten good leaps and a lot of licking in between.
Horde only, five points, and held by eleven percent of players. It has a bad reputation, most of which is deserved, and almost none of which is about the frog.
Where
Zal'amak, west of Krag'wa's Burrow and south of the Gloom Hollow flight point. Click the frog to mount it, and the timer starts.
You get one attempt. Leaving the vehicle does not reset anything: the kill count and the clock are remembered, so a failed run stays failed until the world quest comes round again.
Scout before you touch the frog
The single biggest difference between a failed run and a clean one is knowing where you are going before the clock starts.
Fly the area first. Look at where the packs actually are today, notice that some of them patrol and drift together, and pick your order. Fences and scenery will catch you mid-leap if you improvise.
This route works, and enough people have landed the achievement following it that it is worth starting from. The coordinates mark the packs rather than exact landing spots:
The technique
Leap the moment it comes off cooldown, every time. It is the only thing that clears a pack outright.
Tongue lash while you are in the air. The swipe works mid-leap, it has more reach than it looks, and it can be pressed faster than its stated cooldown suggests. Between two leaps you should be licking constantly, and you should already be looking at your next pack.
Rebinding helps more than it sounds. The two abilities land on keys you never use, and reaching for them costs whole seconds over ten leaps. Put them somewhere your hand already goes.
If the trolls will not die
This is the part that made the achievement notorious. The blood trolls scale with your gear while the frog does not, so a well-equipped character could need seven or eight tongue lashes for a pack that should have died to a single leap.
At current levels most people leap onto a pack and see it vanish. If yours are surviving, the workaround is to bring your item level down, and there is a catch worth knowing:
What counts is your highest item level, not what you have equipped. Gear sitting in your bags, your bank, or your vendor buy-back still counts. Only void storage takes it out of the calculation, and void storage strips enchants, gems and modifications from anything you put in it.
People who go this route usually drop far lower than they expect, well below two hundred, before the leap starts one-shotting again.
The other players
The area is not phased to you. When the world quest is up, everyone chasing the meta arrives at once, and packs you were counting on will be dead before you reach them.
Three things help, in order:
- War Mode. The war mode version of the zone is very often nearly empty while the normal one has a queue.
- Off hours. Late night and early morning are the usual answer.
- Talk to people. Almost everyone there is doing the same achievement for the same reason, and orderly queues form readily: one person goes, says so in chat, the next waits half a minute for the respawn. It works far better than racing.
Two more options if the crowd is impossible. Putting a character into the Battle for Azeroth Chromie Time timeline drops you into a far emptier version of the zone. And a second frog halves the work: two players riding at once, not in a group, clear packs roughly twice as fast, and you can return the favour on their attempt.
Before you start, check
Track the achievement so you can see the clock. Make sure you are not in a party. And make sure the packs have actually respawned: going immediately after someone else's attempt is the most common way to run out of trolls with ten seconds left.
