What the achievement asks
Find four Order of Embers relics scattered around Drustvar and return them to Gol Var. Five points, account-wide.
This one is Alliance only. A Horde character can pick up all four relics and walk into the cave, but the turn-ins are simply not clickable. If you play Horde, do it on an Alliance character or you will lose an hour for nothing.
The relics do not glow, do not show on the minimap, and no addon tracking picks them up. Each one is a small object lying in the world that you have to spot with your own eyes, which is the whole difficulty of the achievement.
Where the four relics are
| Relic | Where it lies | Video |
|---|---|---|
| Old Hat | On a pile of bones on the mountain north of Fallhaven. The climb up starts from the road east of Fallhaven | Watch |
| Old Crossbow | Under the trees near the cliff west of the Arom's Stand flight master, directly behind the witch hunter statue | Watch |
| Old Knife | Stabbed into a tree trunk in the east of the Crimson Forest, near the river house where Sister Martha spawns. Approach the trunk from the south side or you will not see the blade | Watch |
| Old Flask | Between rocks on the middle level of the waterfall north-east of Gol Koval. Take the southern of the two rivers and stop halfway down, not at the bottom | Watch |
Collect all four before going anywhere near the cave. Each relic opens its own hand-in, and doing them in one visit saves crossing the zone twice.
Getting into Gol Var
The turn-in is at the bottom of the cave in the Gol Var ruins, and the entrance is genuinely hard to spot: it is a narrow gap wedged between the mountain and a house, and the map does not label it.
The house is the Forgotten Lodge, on Alpine Rise, sitting in the middle of the triangle formed by the Waycrest Manor, Arom's Stand and Fallhaven labels. Walk through the lodge and out the back door, and the cave mouth is directly behind it. You can also go round the west side of the building and drop down between it and the rock.
Once inside, keep left past the two torches, cross the puddle, then curve back to the right and keep descending. The four quest markers sit at the bottom, around 42.5 25.1. Partway down your minimap will show the objectives above you rather than below: ignore that and keep going down.
If you are coming back to this long after the expansion, you do not need the Drustvar storyline at all. Gather the four relics, fly over the Forgotten Lodge and drop into the cave from behind it, and the hand-ins work.
If the markers are not there
Two things make the four quest icons vanish, and both look identical to being in the wrong place.
The first is story progress. If you are working through Drustvar for the first time and the cave is empty, the Order of Embers chain with Lucille at Arom's Stand is what puts the markers in. Finish what she asks, come back, and they appear.
The second is subtler and much newer: the Lorewalking buff hides the quest icons entirely. If you have it on, drop it before you walk into the cave. You do not need to drop the relics themselves, only the buff.
What you actually get
Four quests, a couple of gold each, and no ceremony: the relics end up hovering in the air near the table rather than resting on it, which has been the case since the day the achievement went in.
The one genuine reward is the text. Once they are placed, each relic can be inspected, and each carries a short description of the witch hunter who owned it. The crossbow has a kill count of over seventy notched into its foregrip.
