Explore the Forbidden Reach

Explore the post-storm Forbidden Reach, revealing the covered areas of the world map.

  • The War Creche
  • Stormsunder Crater
  • Morqut Village
  • Froststone Vault
  • Dragonskull Island
  • Caldera of the Menders

Reveal the six covered areas of the post-storm Forbidden Reach, which fills in the fogged parts of your map.

What the achievement asks

Reveal the six covered areas of the post-storm Forbidden Reach, which fills in the fogged parts of your map. Ten points, account-wide, both factions.

There is no fight, no timer and no gate. You fly across the island and each area names itself on screen as you reach it.

Two islands share one name, and only one of them counts

The Forbidden Reach exists twice. The first is the dracthyr starting zone from launch, where every evoker began. The second is the island as it stands after the storm, added in patch 10.0.7, and it is a separate zone with its own map. Exploring the starting zone in 2022 revealed nothing here.

That surprises evokers in particular, who arrive expecting a map they already uncovered and find it grey. It is not a bug and there is nothing to reset. Fly the loop below and it fills in.

The loop

Start at Dragonscale Basecamp, the hub at roughly 34 59 where the flight master, the mailbox and the catalogers sit. The route below runs clockwise and comes back to it.

The six, and how to recognise each one

AreaCoordinatesWhat you are looking at
Caldera of the Menders37.69 30.70The wide volcanic bowl in the north-west, with a tower in the middle
Froststone Vault60.80 37.70A staircase leading underground, north of centre
Dragonskull Island79.46 32.64The separate island off the east coast, across open water
Stormsunder Crater69.60 59.60The blasted eastern basin, full of Primalists
The War Creche58.60 68.40The dracthyr camp in the south-east, where Scalecommander Emberthal stands
Morqut Village37.20 73.30The tuskarr village on the south-west coast

The two that catch people out

Dragonskull Island is genuinely a second island, not a headland. It sits across water at the far east of the map, and a route that hugs the coastline never touches it. Fly out over the sea.

Froststone Vault is underground. Passing over the entrance at 60.80 37.70 is usually enough, but if the area has not ticked when you check your map, take the staircase down and step inside. That settles it either way, and it costs you thirty seconds.

Do this one on your first visit

Of the eleven achievements in the Forbidden Reach branch, this is the only one that finishes in a single flight. Several of the others run on a two-hour event clock or on weeks of renown, so closing this one immediately means one fewer thing to keep in your head while the slow ones tick along.

Dragonriding works across the whole island from the moment you land, so the loop above is a few minutes of gliding rather than a march. Nothing on the route is hostile enough to stop a flying character, and you never have to dismount.

While you are making the circuit, the Zskera Vault keys of Door Buster, the treasures of Forbidden Spoils and the rares of Champion of the Forbidden Reach are all on the same ground. Picking up whatever you fly past costs nothing and every one of them is needed later.

Where it fits

One of eleven under You Know How to Reach Me, which grants the title The Forbidden and is a piece of A World Awoken.
