How the stories rotate
A delve runs one story variant at a time, and it changes daily. You do not have to enter to find out which one: the story currently active is printed on the tier-selection window when you click the delve, and on the map tooltip.
The rotation is global. On any given day the game picks a set of stories that applies across every delve at once, so if a delve is showing a story you still need, go and check the other delves you are missing stories from on the same day. There is a good chance several of them have flipped to something new as well.
That single fact is the difference between finishing this branch in a couple of weeks and grinding one delve every day for a month. Check them all on the days you check any.
A delve with only three stories fills its fourth rotation slot by repeating one of them, so seeing the same story twice in a cycle is normal rather than bad luck.
Players have reported a run at the very lowest tier failing to credit while the same story at a higher tier did. If a story does not tick, rerun it at tier 4 or above before reporting it as broken.

Do the chests on the same runs
The Waterworks Discoveries wants the Sturdy Chests hidden in this same delve, and some of those chests only appear during particular stories. Since you are going to run every story anyway, carry the chest list with you and the second achievement finishes itself.
Where it fits
One of the pieces of Glory of the War Within Delver, which rewards the Ivory Goliathus mount and is part of Worldsoul-Searching, the War Within meta.
