What the achievement asks
Collect all nine hunting companion colours. Ten points, account-wide.

They drop from the reward satchels of Grand Hunts, including the ordinary white satchels you can farm, not only the big ones.
The one thing that decides how long this takes
The drop rate is far higher in your first hunt satchel of the week than in any later one. Everything else about this achievement follows from that.
And progress is account-wide. So the fast route is not to run a hundred hunts on one character: it is to run the first weekly hunt on every level 60 character you own. Six alts is six high-chance satchels a week against your main's one, for a fraction of the playing time.
Players who did it the other way report over a hundred hunts before the set completed, and others sitting at four of nine after reaching Renown 25 purely on Grand Hunts. Those are the same odds, spent badly.
Do not read anything into the pattern
There is no known way to steer which colour drops. Having the Ohuna out rather than the Bakar has been suggested and never demonstrated, and the one colour a player waits months for is different every time.
It is simply a nine-item random collection with a weekly-boosted roll. Alts are the only lever.
If you have all nine and no achievement
The tracking display has been unreliable more than once, most notably around patch 10.1.5, when it showed no progress at all for people who were nearly finished, and looting the last colour did not pop it.
Relog. It has consistently appeared on the next login, and there is nothing else to do about it.
