Expert Expeditioner

Win 50 Island Expeditions on Mythic difficulty.

Fifty Mythic island wins, which you can queue for alone if you talk to the right person.

What the achievement asks

Win fifty Island Expeditions on Mythic difficulty. Ten points, account-wide.

Fifty is the whole achievement. There is no trick, no shortcut and nothing to unlock: it is the longest single grind in the island category, and the only question worth answering is how to make each run short.

Queue solo, at the person rather than the table

Most people believe Mythic islands need a group of three. That is true of one of the two queues standing in the same room, and not the other.

The table is the group finder left over from Battle for Azeroth. On Mythic it will not start without three players, and the button stays greyed out.

The person standing behind it queues you alone. Talk to Flynn Fairwind in Boralus if you are Alliance, or Captain Rez'okun in Dazar'alor if you are Horde, and choose Mythic from what he offers instead of touching the table.

Making a run short

An expedition ends when one side reaches the azerite target, around twelve thousand. You are racing a rival team of three, not clearing a zone, so what matters is where the azerite is dense.

  • Go for packs with an elite in them. They are worth far more than the trash around them, and hunting elites specifically is the single biggest change you can make to your run time.
  • Kill the rival team. Three player-equivalent kills is a large jump in one go. They will usually find you before you find them.
  • Take the bonus quests. A yellow mark on the map means a quest, and the item it wants is almost always beside the marker and glowing.

Ignore everything else. Clearing an island thoroughly is slower than winning it.

What you collect along the way

Fifty Mythic runs is enough to finish most of the island category without aiming at it, so there is no reason to farm any of these separately:
