WoW Meta Tracker is a web tool built around one thing, tracking expansion meta achievements in World of Warcraft. The starting idea fits in a single sentence, which is to give collectors a clear view of where they stand without having to dig through the achievement panel category by category every time they log in.

Meta achievements are a strange kind of goal, because they almost never get finished in one session. Their criteria are scattered across a dozen different categories, some steps depend on a weekly reset or a seasonal event, and there are always two or three forgotten objectives sitting somewhere at the bottom of the list. These are long term goals, and the in game interface, which is very good at showing you a state at a given moment, was never designed to help you plan something across several weeks. That gap is exactly what this tool is here to fill.

How it works

The principle is deliberately simple. On the home page you enter your character name, realm and region, and that is the whole setup. No account to create, no Battle.net login to authorise, no addon to install. The data comes straight from Blizzard's official API, based on your character's public information.

Once the search runs, you land on the progress page, which brings together every expansion meta achievement along with its completion percentage and the full list of criteria you still have left. Completed objectives and missing ones are visually distinct, so you can tell at a glance which metas are close to done and which ones still need serious work.

Filters let you narrow the view down to a single expansion, or keep only what is in progress, what is finished, or what has not been started yet. The aim is to answer in a few seconds the question that comes up at the start of every play session, which is what to work on today.

What the tool does not do

It is worth saying upfront that WoW Meta Tracker is not trying to become a full armory. It shows no gear, no raid progression and no mythic plus ratings, because other sites already handle all of that very well. The priority is doing one thing properly, and that one thing is meta achievements.

Achievement hunting is a fairly solitary activity, usually carried out in empty zones and on content nobody visits any more, and there is real value in comparing methods, priorities and frustrations with other collectors. The comments are there for that, and the topics you bring up will shape part of what gets written next.
